Ian joined Durham International School in August 2025, bringing with him nearly two decades of experience teaching the British PE curriculum up to IGCSE and A Level. He graduated with a BA in Sport and Exercise Sciences from the University of Birmingham and later completed a Master’s in Education and Leadership from the University of Exeter. Ian’s teaching career spanned three years at Stonyhurst International School in Penang, six years in Taiwan, and over a decade in the UK, where he taught at a grammar school in Shropshire. He has held several leadership roles, including Head of Year, Head of House, and Head of Department, and has organised numerous whole-school trips, events, and competitions. An avid sportsman, Ian has a distinguished background in hockey, having captained and coached multiple teams, played in the National League, and represented his county at various levels. Ian is joined in Kenya by his wife, Colette, who teaches in the Prep School.
